Deewaniyat brings a love story amidst family rivalry. The story unfolds in Haryana, set against the backdrop of a traditional horse-riding competition that has heightened tensions between two former friends turned rivals: Ranvijay Malik and Jaideep Choudhary. Once allies, they are now locked in bitter enmity, carrying this feud into the next generation. Ranvijay’s daughter, Mannat, and Jaideep’s son, Jeet, are young lovers caught in the crossfire of their families’ longstanding grudge. Despite the feud, Mannat and Jeet manage to meet secretly, sharing intimate moments and expressing their love for one another. Mannat, traveling by train to attend the competition, hears Jeet singing and is drawn to him. They share a brief but meaningful moment as he finds her hiding and playfully asks if her love led him to her.
Mannat’s arrival is eagerly anticipated by her family, with her father Ranvijay meticulously preparing for the competition. His pride and determination to win are palpable as he talks to his nephew Rudra, expressing his desire to defeat Jaideep. Rudra, too, is confident that their family’s jockey, Mannat, will lead them to victory. However, Ranvijay’s protective side comes out at the station when he hears men gossiping about Mannat; he fiercely defends her honor, showcasing his deep affection and protectiveness as a father.
When Mannat finally meets her father, she is greeted warmly, but she takes a moment to return to the train, where Jeet is waiting. Their brief interaction is charged with romance and hesitation, as Mannat tells Jeet of her respect for her father, explaining she can’t betray his trust. She asks Jeet to be patient, reinforcing the tension between her love for him and her loyalty to her family. This secret meeting almost gets exposed when Ranvijay comes looking for her, but Mannat quickly hides Jeet’s presence, retrieving a book to divert suspicion. Her father warns her about reading love stories, a foreshadowing of his intent to control her fate, which adds to the emotional weight of her secret relationship with Jeet.
On the other side of this rivalry, Jeet’s family is also preparing for the competition, and he is called upon to find his younger brother, Dev, who has gone camping in the jungle. Jeet locates Dev and urges him to prepare for the race. Their interaction reveals Dev’s protective loyalty toward Jeet; he even got into a fight defending his brother’s honor. Dev, strong-willed and hot-headed, believes in upholding the family rivalry, hinting at the unwavering commitment to defend his family’s pride at any cost. His views sharply contrast with Jeet’s, who questions the value of their families’ enmity and hints at his desire for peace, perhaps motivated by his love for Mannat. However, Dev dismisses the idea, determined to continue the rivalry and promising that love with the Malik family is forbidden.
As both families head toward the competition, the atmosphere is heavy with anticipation. Jeet and Mannat’s relationship stands as a delicate thread of hope for reconciliation, but their families’ enmity poses a constant threat to their future together. Dev’s intense loyalty to his family and commitment to rivalry further complicates things, as his protective nature makes him an obstacle to Jeet’s hopes of bridging the gap.
