Imlie is preparing to sing at a bar and mentions how she lost half a day’s salary yesterday due to a sore throat, and can’t afford to lose any more today. Her friend kindly offers her medicine. Amrit enters the bar and requests the owner to clear it so he can have an exclusive viewing of Imlie’s performance. The owner explains that he cannot turn away his loyal customers. Amrit then offers him a large sum of money and the owner instructs his servant to vacate the bar. Imlie approaches Amrit and firmly states that she is an artist, not someone who can be bought for a show. She declines his offer and returns to the green room. Meanwhile, Agastya calls her and she answers with annoyance, pretending her maid picked up first before asking why he called at such an inconvenient time.

Agastya adds that she accidentally left the office keys behind and he urgently requires a crucial document from there. As a result, he is waiting outside Johri’s house to retrieve the keys. Upon hearing this, Imlie becomes anxious, fearing that her deception will be uncovered. She quickly claims to be out for a walk and assures she will return home soon, before hastily rushing away. However, the owner catches up to her and threatens to reduce her salary if she fails to complete her task. Faced with the possibility of losing a well-paying job, Imlie makes a swift decision and flees from the scene.
