The episode begins with Shanti arriving like a storm at Adit’s house, scolding everyone left, right, and centre. Her fury could burn down the entire colony’s electricity if connected to a transformer. She learns Mangal isn’t home and blames Adit and his entire khandaan for ruining her daughter’s wedding dreams.
Kusum and Adit ask her to calm down, but calming Shanti down is like telling a volcano not to erupt mid-lava flow. Shanti spits fire, accusing them of turning Ishana against Mangal to break her wedding. She looks at Kusum as if Kusum just swallowed her lottery ticket. Kusum, unfazed, gives her a bored look in return.
Meanwhile, Kapil is refusing to drink coffee. He notices Mangal returned her engagement ring. His heartbreak is so deep that even the coffee beans seem to have lost their aroma. Pratima walks in, finding Kapil lost in Mangal-land, probably thinking about her chai-making skills. Pratima tries cheering him up, but Kapil is too busy writing silent ghazals in his mind.
