Akshay Kumar Raises Alarm on Cyber Harassment, Calls for Digital Safety Education in Schools

Akshay Kumar Raises Alarm on Cyber Harassment, Calls for Digital Safety Education in Schools. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently shared a deeply personal incident involving his daughter, highlighting the growing dangers of cyber harassment for children in India. Speaking at a public forum alongside Maharashtra’s Chief Minister and senior police officials, Akshay revealed that his daughter was playing an online video game when a stranger, posing as a fellow player, sent inappropriate messages and requested explicit pictures.

Thankfully, Akshay’s daughter immediately informed her mother, averting potential harm. However, the episode serves as a stark reminder of the risks children face in the digital world. “This is how everything begins,” Akshay said, emphasizing that online harassment can escalate into extortion, emotional trauma, or even cases that tragically end in suicide. The superstar stressed that these threats often start small—innocuous messages or friendly interactions—but can quickly evolve into serious cybercrimes.

Drawing on his experience, Akshay urged the government and educational authorities to take proactive steps. He suggested that schools incorporate cyber safety lessons into their regular curriculum, particularly for students in grades 7 through 10. “We teach children history, geography, mathematics,” he said. “But when it comes to the digital world, we leave them unprepared. If 2 + 2 equals 4 in math, children need to learn what is safe and what is dangerous online.”

Akshay’s proposal focuses on teaching students how to recognize online threats, understand the implications of sharing personal information, and develop responsible digital behavior. He stressed that cybercrime today has become more widespread and harmful than many forms of street crime, making early education crucial.

Throughout his speech, Akshay remained candid and heartfelt. He described how the experience made him reflect on the responsibilities parents and society share in safeguarding children. “My daughter did the right thing by immediately informing her mother,” he said. “But not all children are prepared or aware enough to take such action. Awareness and education are the first line of defense.”

Akshay Kumar’s appeal is both timely and essential. As children increasingly navigate the online world for games, social media, and education, understanding cyber safety is no longer optional—it is a necessity. His call for dedicated cyber safety periods in schools could serve as a model for other states and countries, ensuring that the next generation is better equipped to protect themselves from online threats.

The message is clear: safeguarding children in the digital era requires awareness, education, and vigilance. And with public figures like Akshay Kumar championing the cause, there is hope that cyber safety will soon become a central part of the educational conversation.
