Mangal Lakshmi 28th January 2026 Written Update: Sowmya’s Biggest Lie Exposed as Mangal Finds the Living Truth

The episode opens on a chilling note as Sowmya meets a woman named Reema and quietly hands her money. She lifts a baby from the cradle and apologises for being late, speaking to the child in a disturbingly calm tone. Sowmya reveals her twisted plan, saying she is staging the baby’s death drama to get back the child’s father, Adit. She believes Mangal will drown in guilt, forever thinking she is responsible for the baby’s death. Sowmya strictly warns Reema to take care of the baby and ensure no one ever finds out that the child is alive and is her daughter.

Back home, Adit breaks down in Kusum’s lap. He calls himself an unlucky father who never even got the chance to hold his daughter. Kusum consoles him, sharing his grief. Elsewhere, trouble brews when Reema unexpectedly meets Sowmya again in the market and insists she is returning to her village, asking Sowmya to take back her baby. Sowmya panics and argues with her. At that very moment, Mangal notices Sowmya from a distance and starts moving toward her, but an auto passes between them, making her miss the scene. Suspicious, Mangal wonders who the woman was.

Mangal confronts Reema, questioning her meeting with Sowmya. Reema pushes Mangal and tries to escape. A tense chase follows. Mangal grabs Reema’s pallu, making her fall, but Reema throws sand into Mangal’s eyes and manages to flee. Blinded and disoriented, Mangal stumbles onto the road and is moments away from an accident when Lakshmi arrives just in time to save her. Lakshmi gently washes the sand from Mangal’s eyes, and a shaken, emotional Mangal hugs her tightly, breaking down in tears.

Meanwhile, Sowmya secretly brings the baby home, covering her with a shawl. She worries about hiding the child before anyone notices. Spotting Kusum nearby, she hurriedly places the baby inside a flower pot and covers her with flowers. Kusum questions Sowmya’s presence there. Sowmya lies, saying she felt suffocated at home and went out for a walk. Kusum carries the flower pot to decorate the mandir, but suddenly hears a baby’s cry, leaving Sowmya frozen in fear.

Lakshmi senses something deeply wrong and asks Mangal what is bothering her. Mangal shares how Sowmya accused her of killing her baby and says she is certain the child is alive. She also mentions seeing Sowmya with a mysterious woman in the market. Lakshmi firmly states that Sowmya can never be trusted and insists they must expose her secret.

Sowmya cleverly misleads Kusum by playing baby videos on her phone, claiming the sounds came from them. Kusum, convinced that Sowmya is traumatised by her loss, prays for her recovery. When Sowmya pretends to feel dizzy, Kusum leaves to prepare kadha. Seizing the chance, Sowmya quickly shifts the baby to her room.

Determined, Mangal and Lakshmi track Reema using her slippers and reach her house. Inside, they notice an expensive cradle, confirming their suspicions. Lakshmi becomes sure that Sowmya lied about the baby’s death. At the same time, Sowmya struggles to silence the baby’s cries at home.

Mangal and Lakshmi confront Reema, who is packing to leave. Reema calls out to neighbours, but Mangal and Lakshmi pretend to be police officers. Cornered, Reema confesses the truth. She reveals that Sowmya herself handed over the baby and threatened to harm Reema’s daughter if she refused. Reema clarifies she is not involved in child trafficking and says she returned the baby to Sowmya before leaving. Realising the baby is alive, Mangal and Lakshmi rush back.

Mangal is shattered yet relieved. She tells Lakshmi how cruel it is that Sowmya declared her living baby dead and emotionally tortured everyone, especially her. Lakshmi insists they must expose Sowmya immediately and find the baby before Sowmya harms her.

Sowmya, unaware she has been exposed, speaks to someone on the phone and arranges to hide the baby for a few days in exchange for money. Thinking the house is empty, she prepares to move the baby but is startled by the doorbell. She hides the baby in the storeroom.

Mangal and Lakshmi arrive disguised as pest control workers. Sowmya lets them in but remains visibly nervous, refusing to let them near the storeroom. Lakshmi sprays liquid on Sowmya’s feet and asks her to wash them immediately. As Sowmya leaves, Mangal unlocks the storeroom and searches desperately. Sowmya returns and confronts Lakshmi, pulling off her mask and realising the truth. She understands Mangal is inside.

The tension peaks when the doorbell rings again. Adit and Kusum return home, shocked by the smoke and Lakshmi’s presence. Sowmya accuses Mangal and Lakshmi of torturing her and begs Adit to save her. At that moment, Mangal steps out holding Sowmya’s baby. She declares firmly that she did not kill the child and reminds Sowmya that she saved the baby earlier and again today. She questions Sowmya in front of everyone about why she declared her living baby dead.

The episode ends on this explosive revelation.

Precap:
The story takes a five-year leap. Mangal begins searching for a groom for Ishana, hoping to find someone who will truly respect and love her.

Mangal Lakshmi 28th January 2026 Written Update Review

This episode is a full-blown emotional thriller. Sowmya’s deception is chilling, making her one of the darkest characters on the show. Mangal’s journey from guilt to truth is powerful and satisfying, while Lakshmi once again proves to be her strongest pillar. The pacing is tight, the disguises add drama, and the final reveal delivers solid payoff. The upcoming leap promises a fresh chapter, but this episode firmly belongs to Mangal’s resilience and courage.
