Seher Hone Ko Hai 17th August 2026 Written Update: Seher Helps Mahid Heal from His Guilt as Haider Questions His Mufti Duties
The episode begins with Seher breaking down while remembering her mother, Kausar. Overwhelmed by grief, she cries uncontrollably. Mahid immediately hugs her and tries to comfort her. He assures Seher that Kausar is watching over her from heaven and would be happy to see her living her life well.
Seher decides that she cannot allow Mahid to remain trapped in his guilt forever. She wants to help him heal from the pain surrounding Kausar’s death.
Seher reminds Mahid of something Kausar once told her. Kausar had always encouraged Seher to fight for life and find a reason to smile every day. She did not want Seher to stop living because of her circumstances.
Seher then asks Mahid to share his memories of Kausar with her.
Mahid becomes emotional as he recalls Kausar’s final wishes. He reveals that Kausar had asked him to send Seher back to her because she believed Seher would face difficulties in the Niyazi mansion. Mahid admits that he should have listened to Kausar and sent Seher back.
He regrets forcing Seher to stay with him. Mahid believes that if he had allowed her to leave, Kausar might still have been alive and Seher might have been able to spend more time with her mother.
Seher realises that Mahid is drowning in guilt and decides to find a way to bring a smile back to his face.
Seher’s unusual thief story makes Mahid laugh
Seher then shares a childhood memory with Mahid.
She recalls how a thief once entered their house and frightened everyone. Despite being scared herself, Seher gathered the courage to confront the thieves.
She told them that there was nothing valuable in their house for them to steal. Instead, she jokingly offered to cook something for them.
Seher decided to make aloo parathas for the thieves but ended up making a funny mistake—she forgot to put aloo in them!
Mahid starts laughing when he hears the story.
Seher continues that the thieves suddenly began crying after eating the food. They had been reminded of their mothers and their cooking.
Mahid enjoys the story and tells Seher that she must have made the entire incident up just to make him laugh.
Seher becomes emotional and says that she would never lie while taking her mother’s name. She touches the sand near Kausar’s tombstone and remembers her mother.
Mahid wants to comfort her, but someone approaches him and asks him to console a young boy who has just lost his father.
Seher encourages Mahid to go and support the boy.
Mahid leaves her alone.
Amal struggles with money
Meanwhile, Amal is worried about arranging money for her deposit.
She meets Farid and Sultana and tells them that she has been selected for the opportunity she was hoping for.
Farid is delighted and congratulates her.
However, Sultana immediately asks Amal whether she has come simply to share the good news or whether she needs something from them.
Amal remains silent.
Farid becomes uncomfortable with Sultana’s questioning and asks why she is speaking to Amal that way. He points out that Amal has come to share happy news with them.
Sultana, however, understands Amal better than anyone.
She asks Amal directly how much money she needs.
Amal becomes upset by the question and leaves.
Farid then confronts Sultana for her attitude.
Sultana explains that she knows Amal very well. Whenever Amal needs financial help, her expression changes in exactly this way. She says she has helped Amal with money before and knows that Amal is currently going through a difficult phase.
Sultana believes that Amal needs their support now more than ever.
Amal later regrets the way she behaved with them.
Mahid helps a grieving child
Meanwhile, Mahid notices a young boy who has lost his father.
The boy’s relatives are trying to force him to accept the situation quickly. They tell him that he must stop crying and become responsible for his mother and siblings.
Mahid becomes upset by their behaviour.
He pushes them aside and tells the boy that he has every right to cry for his father. He explains that accepting someone’s death does not mean that a person has to hide their emotions.
Mahid encourages the boy to grieve but also reminds him that he will eventually have to become strong enough to support his family.
Everyone appreciates Mahid’s words and praises him for helping the boy.
The moment also shows that Mahid himself is slowly beginning to understand that grief cannot simply be suppressed. He has spent so much time blaming himself for Kausar’s death that he has forgotten how to process his own emotions.
Seher promises to smile again
Mahid returns to Seher and comforts her.
Seher tells him that she has decided to smile.
She reminds Mahid that her mother always wanted to see her happy and smiling. Seher then asks Mahid whether he can become one of the reasons behind her happiness.
Mahid promises that he will always try to make her smile.
Seher thanks him.
Their conversation brings them emotionally closer as both begin to understand that they need each other’s support to move beyond their painful past.
Husna plans against Mahid’s engagement
Elsewhere, Husna asks her husband to remind her about the trick they had discussed to fulfil their plan.
She has forgotten it.
Her husband refuses to tell her.
Husna then makes it clear that she does not want to return to the village yet. She promises that she will go back after Mahid’s engagement because she wants to pray for his engagement.
However, the situation is not as innocent as it sounds.
Husna’s real intention is to ruin Mahid’s engagement by using Amal.
Her husband has actually forgotten the trick himself, but instead of admitting it, he invents a random idea to keep Husna happy.
Meanwhile, Mahid and Seher find themselves stuck in traffic.
The situation once again reminds Seher of her mother, and she becomes emotional.
Mahid tries to motivate her and encourages her to focus on the present rather than allowing the memories of Kausar to consume her.
Seher continues to miss her mother deeply, but Mahid’s presence gives her some comfort.
The episode ends with Seher and Mahid together as they continue their journey, while a new challenge awaits Mahid from Haider.
Precap
Haider confronts Mahid and accuses him of forgetting his duties as a Mufti after Seher returned to his life. He questions whether Mahid is still fit to hold the position.
Mahid refuses to stay silent and gives Haider a fitting reply.
Our Take
This episode is largely about healing, guilt and emotional companionship. Seher’s approach toward Mahid is particularly touching because instead of simply telling him to forget the past, she tries to help him confront his pain.
Mahid’s conversation about Kausar shows how deeply he blames himself. His belief that he could have prevented her death has kept him emotionally trapped. Seher understands this and deliberately reminds him of Kausar’s wish—that they should continue living and smiling.
The scene involving the grieving boy is another strong moment because Mahid tells him something he himself needs to hear. Grief cannot be switched off simply because other people expect someone to become strong. His interaction with the boy also shows that Mahid is beginning to transform his own pain into empathy.
Meanwhile, Amal’s financial struggle and Husna’s plan add separate layers to the story. Husna clearly has no intention of allowing Mahid’s engagement to happen peacefully, and using Amal could create trouble for both Mahid and Seher.
The upcoming confrontation with Haider could be particularly interesting because it brings Mahid’s personal life and his religious responsibilities into direct conflict. His response will reveal whether he is finally ready to stand up for his choices.
