Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 22nd August 2026 Written Update: Armaan and Abhira Plan a Date, Myra Faces a Firefly Festival Dilemma
The episode begins with Madhav struggling to prepare tea. Armaan watches him and jokingly thinks that Madhav has always been a terrible cook. Madhav adds ginger directly into the milk, making Abhira worry that the milk will curdle. She is about to step in and help him, but Kaveri stops her. She wants to wait and see what happens when Armaan tastes the tea.
Soon, Madhav realizes that the milk has actually curdled. He becomes upset and starts blaming himself. He feels that he is useless and cannot even prepare something as simple as tea properly.
Armaan feels bad seeing Madhav disappointed. Instead of criticizing him, he tells his father that he is proud of him. Armaan calls Madhav his inspiration and his hero, which leaves Madhav emotional.
Madhav then opens up about the fraudster situation. He feels guilty for not telling Armaan about it earlier. Armaan understands why his father kept the matter from him and says that Madhav probably did not want to create more problems for him. However, Madhav admits that he felt bad watching Armaan worry about him.
The conversation helps father and son finally put their differences aside. Madhav praises Armaan for understanding him, while Armaan makes it clear that he will always worry about his father.
Abhira watches the emotional exchange and says that Armaan has become very mature. Kaveri, Vidya and Abhira are happy to see Armaan and Madhav finally patch things up.
With the family atmosphere becoming lighter, Abhira begins expecting something from Armaan as well. She thinks Armaan will surprise her with the bhajan clubbing plan they had discussed. She waits for him to make a romantic gesture.
Instead, Armaan announces that they should go on a break with their daughters.
Abhira is disappointed. She silently wonders whether the romance between them has finally disappeared. After hoping for a romantic surprise, she feels that perhaps she needs to accept that things have changed between them.
Meanwhile, Myra tries to cheer up Mukti after she misses the perfume-making class. Myra assures her that Kabir is not a bad person. Mukti then reveals that she feels anxious around new people, which was why she had been waiting for Myra.
Mukti also admits that she had been worried Myra might ditch her for Kabir. Myra immediately reassures her that she would never abandon her for Kabir. Their friendship remains important to her.
Mukti then brings up the firefly festival and encourages Myra to attend. Myra initially refuses to go.
Just then, Kabir contacts Myra and tells her that she has accidentally taken his bag as well. He asks her to keep it safe because it contains his camera and something extremely valuable. Myra and Mukti realize that the bag is still in the hall.
Armaan eventually finds the bag along with the camera.
Myra and Mukti are shocked when Armaan confronts Myra about it. Mukti quickly comes to Myra’s rescue. She tells Armaan that the camera belongs to her friend and that she was planning to purchase it from him for Myra.
Armaan accepts the explanation but asks Mukti to return the camera to her friend.
Myra later meets Kabir to return his camera. The two immediately begin arguing, as their conversations rarely seem capable of remaining peaceful for very long.
Kabir, however, soon changes his approach and invites Myra to join him at the firefly festival. Myra refuses, but Kabir tries to convince her by describing it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
His words leave Myra confused.
Meanwhile, Armaan decides that he will take Abhira on a date. Abhira asks him whether he is still upset because of the Damani family situation. Armaan tells her that he is actually happy because Myra is no longer in contact with Kabir.
Armaan and Abhira then decide to go for bhajan clubbing together.
Myra and Mukti later learn about Armaan and Abhira’s plan. They wish them well and encourage them to enjoy themselves. However, Myra suddenly realizes that she might be missing the firefly festival.
Mukti becomes concerned when she learns that Kabir is also planning to attend the same festival. She suggests that Myra should tell someone before going there.
Myra, however, points out that Mukti already knows about her plans. She then leaves, leaving Mukti worried about what could happen next.
The episode ends with the possibility of an unexpected meeting hanging over the upcoming celebration. With Myra and Kabir heading towards the same festival while Armaan and Abhira are also planning to be there, the chances of the four crossing paths are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
Precap
Mukti asks Myra whether she has gone crazy by deciding to attend the firefly festival with Kabir. Myra clarifies that they are going separately.
Abhira then tells Mukti that she is also going to the firefly festival with Armaan. Mukti is stunned and immediately worries about what will happen if Myra, Kabir, Armaan and Abhira all end up meeting at the same place.
Review
The episode does a nice job of quietly repairing relationships while simultaneously setting up a potentially chaotic romantic situation. Armaan and Madhav’s reconciliation feels warm because the scene is not built around a grand dramatic apology. Instead, it comes through understanding, appreciation and the simple realization that both father and son genuinely care about each other.
Abhira’s disappointment adds an interesting little emotional wrinkle. She is not asking for some extravagant declaration; she simply wants Armaan to make an effort and keep the romance alive. Her silent realization that perhaps the romance has faded gives the otherwise light episode a relatable emotional undercurrent.
The Myra-Kabir track is where the episode starts putting its mischief together. Kabir clearly knows how to make an ordinary invitation sound like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, while Myra is doing a fairly heroic job of pretending she is not tempted. At this point, the firefly festival is beginning to look less like a peaceful outing and more like a carefully arranged collision course.
And then comes the obvious question: how many people can television possibly send to one firefly festival before something goes spectacularly wrong? With Myra, Kabir, Abhira and Armaan all heading towards the same destination, the makers have practically switched on the sign saying “awkward encounter incoming.” The setup is simple, but it has enough potential for romance, misunderstandings and plenty of family drama.
Rating: 4/5
Episode Quote
“Sometimes love does not need a grand surprise; it only needs two people willing to find their way back to each other, even when life keeps changing the route.”
