Koffee With Karan Season 9: Karan Johar Announces the Final Season of His Iconic Chat Show

Koffee With Karan Season 9 is set to stream from October 14 on JioHotstar, but this time, the announcement comes with an emotional twist. Karan Johar has revealed that the upcoming season will be the final season of the much-loved celebrity chat show.

In a heartfelt message, Karan looks back at the extraordinary journey of Koffee With Karan, which began more than two decades ago. What starts as a professional announcement quickly turns deeply personal as Karan recalls the moment he first told his father about his dream of hosting a talk show.

Karan Johar Remembers His Father

Karan reveals that it was in June 2004 when he told his father that he wanted to host a talk show where he could bring two celebrities together for an informal and candid conversation. His father listened to the idea, but sadly, he passed away on June 26 that same year.

Karan becomes emotional while recalling the memory and asks for a moment before continuing. He then remembers the first day he shot for Koffee With Karan on August 16, 2004.

What follows is a remarkable journey that has now stretched across eight seasons, 161 episodes and 22 years.

From Celebrity Friendships to Controversies

Karan looks back at the many kinds of guests who have occupied his famous couch over the years. He has invited lovers, friends and families to the show. Some couples who appeared as lovers eventually became ex-lovers, while others went on to get married.

The show has also witnessed plenty of controversies. Karan jokingly recalls that he nearly put an end to the careers of some national icons and says he is still living with the word “nepotism” even today.

He also remembers how speculation and conjecture surrounding the show became part of the larger public conversation.

Despite everything, Koffee With Karan became a defining part of his career and popular culture.

Karan Says This Will Be His Last Koffee

Karan admits that everywhere he goes, one question continues to follow him: When is the next season of Koffee With Karan?

He jokingly wonders why people do not ask him when his next feature film is coming, but acknowledges that the show has given him an enormous amount over the years.

Now, after such a long journey, Karan says he has reached a point where he believes that all good things eventually have to come to an end.

With a heavy heart, he makes the announcement that Season 9 will be the very last season of Koffee With Karan.

One Last Cup of Koffee

Karan knows the announcement will lead to plenty of reactions. He expects trolls, comments and social media posts, but beneath all of that, he believes there is still immense love for the show and its iconic coffee couch.

He therefore invites viewers to join him for one last season and one last cup of Koffee.

Koffee With Karan Season 9 premieres on October 14, 2026, on JioHotstar.
