Drishyam 3: The Conclusion Movie Review – Full Story, Ending and Final Twist
Drishyam: The Conclusion takes the familiar battle of Vijay Salgaonkar and the police into another round, but this time the case becomes even more complicated. Six months after the events of Drishyam 2, Meera Deshmukh is still unable to forget her son Sameer. She no longer wants just justice — she wants revenge and is determined to finally break Vijay’s carefully constructed story.
What follows is another battle of evidence, recordings, skeletons and carefully planned lies, with Vijay once again trying to stay several steps ahead of the investigation.
Meera Wants Revenge, and Tomar Reopens the Case
Six months have passed, but Meera and Mahesh Deshmukh are still haunted by Sameer’s death. Meera reaches a point where she even attempts to end her life, but Mahesh saves her. He promises that their story is not over and decides to reopen the case.
The investigation is handed to Rajveer Singh Tomar, an SP Crime Branch officer who is far more dangerous and methodical than the officers who previously investigated Vijay.
Tomar wants to examine the soil where the skeletons were found and match the DNA of the skeleton recovered from the police station. He also brings in Gaitonde, who has been connected with the case from the beginning.
But Tomar understands one thing very clearly: Vijay is not an ordinary suspect. He knows how to construct a believable story and manipulate evidence.
Vijay Has Already Prepared for the Next Battle
Vijay, meanwhile, appears to be living a peaceful life. He regularly visits a church and has developed a strong relationship with the people there.
His daughter Anju is now older, and the family begins discussing her marriage. Anju is reluctant because she wants the entire case against their family to end first. Vijay confidently tells her that everything will be settled by the 18th of the following month.
Tomar starts digging deeper.
He also consults director Murad, who previously worked with Vijay while making Drishyam. Murad claims that he understands Vijay’s way of thinking. His biggest observation is that Vijay’s stories always have one important rule: the hero does not go to jail.
Vijay himself had once explained the philosophy behind his storytelling: the story does not necessarily have to be true; it only has to feel true.
That idea becomes extremely important in the final act.
The Skeleton Creates a New Problem
Vijay reconnects with Savio D’Souza, the man who had previously helped him obtain a skeleton from the church cemetery.
But Savio now has a serious illness and tells Vijay that he may have only two months left. He wants the skeleton Vijay took from him returned so that it can be placed back inside the same coffin and properly buried.
This puts Vijay in an impossible situation.
The skeleton is now part of the evidence, and the medical college is under surveillance. Vijay cannot simply walk in and take it back. Savio refuses money and only wants Vijay to fulfil his promise.
For the first time, even Vijay appears trapped by his own elaborate plan.
Tomar Tracks Vijay and Raghunayak
Tomar orders his officers to keep an eye on Vijay and Raghunayak, the security guard connected to the medical college where the skeletons had been found.
Eventually, Vijay and Raghunayak meet.
Raghunayak reveals that the medical college now has CCTV cameras and police surveillance, making it almost impossible to repeat their earlier activities.
Gaitonde even manages to photograph Vijay and Raghunayak together, but Vijay notices the flash and escapes through another exit. He immediately understands that the police are watching them.
Tomar later questions Raghunayak and offers him a deal: become a government witness against Vijay and save himself.
The investigation also identifies the skeleton found beneath the police station floor. It belongs to a 17-year-old boy named Pintu Fernandes, who died from a head injury.
Now Tomar believes he finally has something concrete against Vijay.
Anju’s Wedding Is Destroyed
Just when Anju’s marriage appears to be moving forward, Gaitonde arrives at the house.
Tomar follows.
Instead of allowing the family to celebrate, Tomar tells the prospective groom’s family that he is Anju’s maternal uncle and begins questioning the situation. He eventually reveals that he is actually the SP Crime Branch.
The groom’s family leaves.
Anju’s wedding is broken because of the investigation.
Tomar then tells Vijay that his family has always survived by lying, but this time he intends to expose them. He believes that although people can lie, the human heart reveals fear through its reaction.
Vijay gives him a warning of his own: when his family is threatened, he will do whatever is necessary to protect them.
The Biggest Threat: Inderjeet Shetty
The case becomes even more dangerous when an extremely experienced lawyer, Inderjeet Shetty, enters the opposition.
Shetty has an extraordinary track record and immediately studies Vijay’s entire family history. He understands that this family does not lie randomly. Their lies are carefully planned and supported by believable details.
He therefore decides that ordinary suspicion will not be enough.
He needs hard evidence.
Shetty discovers old recordings made by police officers Shiv and Jaini, who had secretly monitored Vijay’s family.
One recording appears to contain Nandini discussing the possibility that the family changed the body.
The recording could potentially destroy Vijay’s entire defence.
But there is a problem: the recording was obtained unofficially and cannot simply be presented as legal evidence.
Shetty nevertheless finds a way to use the information.
The Courtroom Battle Begins
Raghunayak is brought to court.
The prosecution claims that Vijay was at the medical college on the night of July 23 and that he and Raghunayak were together there until around 1:00–1:30 a.m.
Nandini, meanwhile, says Vijay returned home around 10 p.m.
Shetty produces the recordings from Shiv and Jaini to challenge her statement.
The recordings appear devastating.
At 9:30 p.m., the family is heard talking normally.
At 10 p.m., Vijay is apparently still absent.
At 10:10, 10:20 and 10:30 p.m., he still appears to be missing.
For a moment, it seems Vijay’s story has finally collapsed.
Then the recording continues.
At around 10:30 p.m., the door opens.
Vijay walks into the house.
He says that he is hungry, talks to his daughters and sits down for dinner with the family.
The courtroom is stunned.
The recording appears to prove that Vijay was home at 10:30 p.m., completely contradicting Raghunayak’s claim.
The court eventually rules in Vijay’s family’s favour.
But the real question remains:
How did Vijay create that recording?
The Big Drishyam Twist: Vijay Had Discovered the Hidden Microphones
The movie finally reveals Vijay’s biggest trick.
Shiv and Jaini had been placed near Vijay’s house to monitor him. They pretended to be interested in purchasing his property.
Vijay became suspicious because Shiv agreed to his asking price far too quickly.
He began investigating them.
Vijay eventually entered their house and discovered microphones placed around it. The officers were secretly recording the family’s conversations.
This changed everything.
Instead of panicking, Vijay used the surveillance against them.
He secretly recorded his own voice and prepared a detailed script for his family.
He then explained the situation to Nandini and the others. The family memorised the script and destroyed the written version.
At the crucial moment, Vijay’s recorded voice was played inside the house.
Whenever the recorded Vijay asked a question, the family members responded according to the rehearsed script.
To anyone listening through the hidden microphones, it sounded as though Vijay was physically present in the house.
That is how the apparently impossible 10:30 p.m. recording was created.
It was not proof that Vijay had actually been home.
It was proof that Vijay had anticipated the police listening to him.
Tomar Understands Vijay’s Real Game
Tomar eventually figures out what happened.
He notices that Vijay’s voice is asking the questions while the family only responds. There is no genuine two-way conversation.
That tiny detail exposes the trick.
But by then, the evidence has already been manipulated into a believable chain of events.
Tomar also discovers another extraordinary part of Vijay’s plan.
For years, Vijay had been visiting the church and building relationships with the people there. One of the identities associated with the church’s WhatsApp group, Sister Pereira, was actually another part of Vijay’s larger strategy.
Messages were circulated claiming that the church land was under threat.
This caused locals to gather and protest when police eventually arrived to investigate the cemetery.
The JCB machines seen at the cemetery were also arranged as part of Vijay’s plan.
Vijay had essentially created an entire environment in which the police could not easily carry out their investigation.
But What Happened to Savio’s Skeleton?
After the case is settled, Vijay and Nandini visit the church cemetery.
They learn that Savio has died.
Nandini then asks the question that the audience has been waiting for:
How did Pintu’s skeleton end up inside the coffin that originally belonged to Savio’s skeleton?
Vijay doesn’t reveal the entire truth to her.
The movie then shows the missing four hours from earlier in the story.
Vijay had gone to Savio and told him that he could not fulfil his promise in the way Savio expected.
But Vijay did not want to leave his promise unfinished.
Instead, he found someone who could create a new artificial skeleton.
After the skeleton was prepared, Vijay took it to Savio.
During the four hours when Vijay disappeared from police surveillance, the new skeleton was placed inside Pintu’s coffin.
That allowed Vijay to fulfil his promise to Savio while simultaneously protecting himself from the police investigation.
Drishyam 3 Ending Explained
So the final twist is that Vijay once again wins by making the impossible look completely believable.
The police believe they have discovered the truth.
The court believes the evidence supports Vijay’s story.
The recordings appear genuine.
The witnesses appear credible.
The skeleton evidence appears to point in the right direction.
Yet Vijay has anticipated almost every move.
The film ends with Vijay and his family surviving the latest attempt to expose them.
But there is one major loose end.
The original skeleton remains with the police as evidence.
If its DNA is properly examined, it could potentially be identified as Pintu Fernandes’ skeleton. That means the film deliberately leaves the audience with a final question: could the truth still return someday?
The Real Meaning of the Ending
The ending keeps the central Drishyam idea alive: Vijay does not necessarily destroy the truth. He creates so many believable layers around it that proving the truth becomes almost impossible.
This time, his biggest weapon isn’t simply a false alibi. It is anticipation.
He realises that the police are listening, discovers how they are gathering evidence, prepares his family, creates a fake conversation, manipulates the church crowd and even solves Savio’s final request without exposing the original skeleton.
And that is what makes the final courtroom victory possible.
The story supplied in the transcript concludes here, while also noting the unresolved DNA question surrounding Pintu’s skeleton. The transcript itself speculates that this could leave room for another story, although it also says the makers have stated that Drishyam 3 is intended to be the final part.
