Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 23rd August 2026 Written Update: Abhira and Armaan’s Firefly Romance Takes an Unexpected Turn
The episode begins with Abhira being pleasantly surprised when she sees the beautiful firefly festival. Armaan watches her reaction and tells her that he knew she would love the place. Abhira thanks him for bringing her there and, more importantly, for keeping the romance alive despite everything going on around them.
Armaan reminds her that being together is not only about grand gestures. He says that breathing together and sharing life with each other is what truly matters. His words make Abhira smile, and she realizes that perhaps she had been wrong to think that Armaan had become too caught up in responsibilities to think about romance.
Meanwhile, Myra informs Mukti that she has reached the festival and promises that she will return on time. Kabir soon spots her and jokingly asks whether she has come there just to admire his good looks. Myra dismisses his teasing and says that she has come with her friends.
Kabir, however, cannot resist capturing her picture.
At the same time, Abhira and Armaan begin enjoying the magical atmosphere around them. When the host asks everyone to switch on their flashlights, the entire place lights up as the fireflies glow around them. Abhira is completely mesmerized by the sight.
Armaan looks at her and tells her that she brightens his world. He promises that he will always glow in her life just like a firefly. His romantic words touch Abhira deeply.
She silently regrets thinking that Armaan had forgotten romance because of all the responsibilities surrounding their family. Armaan makes it clear that he never forgot how to romance her.
The two share a beautiful romantic moment and continue enjoying their date.
Meanwhile, Myra is also enjoying the festival with her friends. Kabir continues taking pictures of her. Myra eventually asks him whether he plans to spend the entire evening capturing photographs instead of actually enjoying the moment.
Kabir defends himself by saying that if he doesn’t capture the moments, how will he remember them later?
Myra gives him a thoughtful answer. She tells him that some moments should simply be enjoyed and remembered in the heart rather than through a camera.
The romantic atmosphere suddenly takes a funny turn when Kabir misunderstands a situation in the darkness. He sees Armaan from a distance but fails to recognize him and assumes that some creepy man is troubling a girl.
Kabir immediately decides to protect Myra.
Meanwhile, Abhira calls Mukti. Mukti becomes nervous because she knows that both couples are at the same festival. She worries that Armaan and Abhira could suddenly come face-to-face with Myra and Kabir.
Abhira asks about Myra, but Mukti lies and says that Myra has gone to her friends’ house. Abhira becomes confused because Myra never informed her about it.
Armaan tells Abhira to stop behaving like a “popcorn mother” and worrying about everything. Just then, another person alerts them that a creepy individual is apparently roaming around the festival.
Armaan admits that he has also seen the person.
Mukti immediately calls Myra to warn her about Abhira and Armaan being nearby. Kabir, however, rejects Mukti’s call. Myra questions him about why he disconnected the call.
Kabir jokingly tells her that the fireflies will fly away if there is too much noise.
Myra is not amused.
Soon, Armaan gets the feeling that Myra is nearby. Abhira also wonders how Myra could possibly be at the festival when she had supposedly gone to her friend’s house.
The situation becomes even more chaotic when Kabir helps Myra after she nearly falls. Myra gets irritated by his overprotective behaviour and tells him to stop acting like Armaan.
Kabir responds that Armaan is like a demon when he gets angry.
Myra loses her patience and shouts at him.
In the darkness, Armaan decides to investigate after noticing something suspicious. Kabir, still believing that Armaan is the creepy person he was warned about, suddenly attacks him.
Armaan fights back.
The two men end up hitting each other before Kabir finally realizes who he has been fighting with.
The moment Kabir recognizes Armaan, he immediately runs away.
Myra is stunned when she discovers that Armaan and Abhira are also at the festival. She decides that the safest option is to leave before the situation gets any worse.
Ironically, Kabir looks at Armaan and Abhira and finds their chemistry rather cute despite the chaos that has just unfolded.
Abhira eventually spots Myra.
She is shocked.
Later, Abhira helps Armaan with his injury. Armaan is furious and says that he will not spare the person who attacked him. However, he deliberately hides Kabir’s identity from Abhira.
Meanwhile, Kabir returns home.
Samar notices that Kabir has been injured and asks him who hit him. Kabir simply says that he has already dealt with the person.
Samar then tells Kabir that he deserves all the happiness in the world and encourages him not to speak negatively about himself.
Back at the festival, Abhira confronts Myra about hiding the truth.
Myra admits that she deliberately kept her visit to the firefly festival a secret. Abhira scolds her for lying, but Myra quickly reveals that Mukti knew everything.
Abhira then turns her attention toward Mukti as well.
Mukti complains to Myra that she is being scolded because of her.
The two girls soon realize something important: Abhira still has no idea that Kabir was also present at the festival or that Armaan had a confrontation with him.
And Armaan, for his own reasons, is clearly not planning to reveal that part of the evening either.
Myra and Mukti decide that they first need to somehow convince Abhira before the truth about the entire firefly festival becomes an even bigger family issue.
The episode ends with the girls worrying about how long they can keep the complicated truth hidden.
Precap
Kaveri recalls that when Armaan had a tumour, she had vowed to organize Janmashtami celebrations with great happiness once everything was fine. She now decides to fulfil that promise and begins planning the festival.
However, Panditji informs the Poddars that he cannot give them permission to organize Janmashtami this year.
Kaveri is shocked and asks who has taken the opportunity.
The Poddars soon discover that the Damanis have been given the opportunity instead.
Review
The firefly festival track brings a refreshing romantic feel to the episode, especially with Abhira and Armaan getting some much-needed couple time. Armaan’s little promise about always glowing in Abhira’s life is sweet without becoming overly dramatic, and Abhira realizing that he hasn’t actually forgotten romance gives their relationship a warm touch.
The Myra-Kabir track adds a lighter layer to the episode. Myra’s advice about enjoying a moment instead of constantly photographing it is actually one of the more thoughtful little exchanges here. Kabir, meanwhile, manages to turn a romantic evening into an accidental wrestling match because apparently the firefly festival needed its own action sequence too.
The real fun comes from the fact that almost everyone is hiding something from someone. Mukti is covering for Myra, Myra is hiding Kabir’s presence, and Armaan is hiding his encounter with Kabir from Abhira. The characters may think they are managing the situation, but secrets in this family rarely stay neatly packed away for long.
The Janmashtami track in the precap also looks promising because it brings the Poddars and Damanis into direct competition again. Kaveri’s emotional connection to the festival gives the upcoming conflict some personal weight, while the Damanis taking the opportunity practically guarantees another round of family drama.
Rating: 4/5
“Some moments glow like fireflies—beautiful when held quietly in the heart, but impossible to keep hidden when everyone starts looking for the light.”
