Today’s Must-Read: Who Really Deserves the Hero Title? Comparing the Four “Heroes” of Today’s Soap Operas: Rajat, Armaan, Anirudh, and Ranvijay
When it comes to leading men in soap operas, you’d expect charisma, courage, and a fair share of heroic moments. Instead, what we get are four underwhelming characters from today’s lineup: Rajat (Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein), Armaan (YRKKH), Anirudh (Jhanak), and Ranvijay (Maati Se Bandhi Dor). Let’s dive into these so-called “heroes” and see how they stack up—or rather, how they fail to stack up.
1. Rajat (Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein)
Pros:
- He has a sweet moment with Savi when she shares her pregnancy news.
- Loves his family and seems determined to protect them—well, most of the time.
Cons:
- Rajat’s perpetual panic mode is his defining trait. Whether it’s losing Kian or fearing for Sai, this man is always on the verge of an emotional breakdown. Calm down, Rajat, not everything needs to be a Shakespearean tragedy.
- He’s essentially a passenger in his own story. Savi and Ashika drive all the drama while Rajat’s role is to either cry or shout “Sai!”
- Can someone explain why Rajat, the “hero,” is completely incapable of spotting Ashika’s obvious schemes? He’s as clueless as a lost puppy in a maze.
Show Verdict: A melodramatic rollercoaster that expects Rajat to be the emotional anchor but instead gets a glorified background character who spends more time worrying than doing anything meaningful.
2. Armaan (YRKKH)
Pros:
- Armaan occasionally flashes his charm, especially when he’s being supportive… if only those moments lasted longer than five seconds.
- He’s a fan favorite—but not because of his actions. It’s mostly because viewers have given up on the rest of the cast.
Cons:
- His indecisiveness is legendary. Whether it’s handling family drama or expressing his feelings, Armaan always manages to take the longest, most convoluted route possible.
- His “heroic” moments feel forced. He either stumbles into them accidentally or gets pushed into action by external circumstances.
- Armaan’s idea of resolving problems? A half-hearted speech that barely addresses the issue at hand. Truly inspiring… not.
Show Verdict: YRKKH serves us a watered-down hero who struggles to make impactful decisions and spends more time as a sidekick to the drama around him.
3. Anirudh (Jhanak)
Pros:
- Anirudh knows how to deliver the occasional emotionally charged line, making him seem almost competent for a fleeting moment.
- His “mysterious” demeanor can sometimes be intriguing.
Cons:
- Anirudh’s biggest flaw is his inability to read the room. Jhanak practically screams her pain, but he’s too busy playing “the wise philosopher” to notice.
- His moral high ground is exhausting. Every time he opens his mouth, it’s to deliver a preachy monologue no one asked for.
- Despite being positioned as the hero, he’s always overshadowed by the female characters. Jhanak carries the weight of the plot while Anirudh tags along for the ride.
Show Verdict: Anirudh feels more like a motivational speaker than a leading man. His lack of genuine action makes him one of the weakest “heroes” in this lineup.
4. Ranvijay (Maati Se Bandhi Dor)
Pros:
- He has moments where he genuinely cares for Vaiju and Vayu, which briefly redeem him.
- His quiet observation of Vaiju and Vayu’s bond adds some emotional depth… occasionally.
Cons:
- Ranvijay is practically a ghost in his own story. He lurks in the background while Vaiju and Jaya duke it out over Vayu.
- His “big reveal” about swapping babies to save Jaya’s feelings? A disaster. Instead of fixing anything, it triggers even more chaos, proving that his decisions only make things worse.
- Despite being the male lead, Ranvijay’s presence is so lackluster that it feels like the supporting cast outshines him at every turn.
Show Verdict: Maati Se Bandhi Dor presents a hero who’s barely there. Ranvijay might as well be an NPC (non-playable character) with how little he impacts the plot.
Who Wins (or Loses)?

The sad truth is that none of these characters truly deserve the title of “hero.” They’re either too passive, too dramatic, or just plain uninspiring. If we’re forced to pick, Armaan barely edges out the others thanks to his sporadic charm, but that’s not saying much. Let’s hope the writers wake up and give these men some real depth and agency—because right now, the “heroes” are the weakest links in their respective shows.

Don't know about other shows but about anirudh character(jhanak) one thing is that he was the most charming interesting and layered ml written in itv for first 200 episodes.. After that the character has been spoiled heavily. Emotional outburst run high only to yield no effect
