Fan Reactions: Is Jhanak Turning Into Another Imlie? Where’s The Plot? Is Jhanak Turning Into Another Imlie? Fans Question Writers Over Predictable Plot.
It’s no secret that Jhanak had a strong start with a fresh premise, but fans are now openly questioning if the story is losing its originality. After the 21st June episode aired, the comments section lit up with disappointment—many expressing déjà vu and calling the track a recycled version of Imlie.
One user asked, “Why are they repeating Imlie again? Different cast, same story?” Another pointed out, “Two women fighting for the same man, forced marriage, evil saas—are these the only storylines we can come up with anymore?”
There’s growing frustration that characters like Nutan, who once symbolized wisdom and maternal strength, are now making regressive choices that feel out of sync with her past trauma. Viewers are asking—why would Nutan agree to Jhanak and Rishi’s marriage after everything she went through herself? Wouldn’t she want to break the cycle rather than enforce it?
Even Moon’s character is earning sympathy. One fan wrote, “Feeling really bad for Moon, her fate is just like Arshi. Can’t they just get the marriage void? Both families are rich and powerful—they can do something if they want to.” It has to be seen how long Moon remains positive. But logic rarely stands a chance in serial land, especially when drama takes the front seat.
Some fans also pointed out how Jhanak had the opportunity to show a woman choosing education, independence, and dignity over a forced marriage. Instead, it’s now stuck in a loop of tired tropes, as if the scriptwriters are afraid to explore anything beyond the beaten path.
The larger question is: how long will audiences keep accepting the same plots in new packaging? Indian television has talented actors, beautiful sets, and solid production—but what it desperately needs now is courage. Courage to write women who don’t just silently sacrifice. Courage to create men who don’t constantly waver. And above all, courage to tell stories that reflect growth, not rinse-and-repeat melodrama. Till then, the verdict is clear: Viewers are watching, but they’re not amused.
